Structured data

Structured data is machine-readable information that describes a page’s content using an agreed vocabulary. On a product page, it can identify the product and its offer details. The markup should describe the visible, current facts of the item rather than introduce hidden claims.

Describe visible product facts in machine-readable form

Valid syntax and accurate product information are separate checks. A validator can recognize a property while the value still disagrees with the page. Structured data also differs from a product feed: both describe products, but they reach receiving systems through different mechanisms and may have different requirements.

Illustrative product comparison:

Fact Visible page Markup specimen
Name Blue ceramic cup name: Blue ceramic cup
Price USD 24 price: 24; priceCurrency: USD
Stock Unavailable availability: InStock

The stock row is deliberately wrong. The reviewer checks the actual product source and updates the conflicting representation. This specimen shows selected fields for comparison; it is not complete installable JSON-LD.

Validate markup against the actual page

Markup does not guarantee a rich result, ranking, recommendation or sale. Google’s product documentation defines supported fields and requirements, which can change. Do not add ratings, offers or availability that the business cannot support on the page.

Next, compare a real product’s rendered page, markup and current stock record. Validate the complete implementation, inspect the selected variant and repeat the check after product data changes.
