Describe a product for a shopping destination
A feed is a data delivery method; it is not the storefront itself. A successfully uploaded file can still contain stale or conflicting values. The product page, selected variant, checkout and receiving destination must describe the same purchasable item. Keep the identifier stable enough to trace that record through updates.
Illustrative record: item CUP-BLUE-01 links to the blue ceramic cup, with a price of USD 24 and an in-stock value. The page shows USD 24, but the cart reports the blue option unavailable. The feed team checks the source stock record and update timing before resubmitting. Changing the identifier to make the warning disappear would make the discrepancy harder to investigate.
Keep identifiers prices and availability consistent
Fields, accepted values and eligibility differ by destination and program. Google Merchant Center’s specification requires price and availability consistency; submitting valid syntax does not guarantee acceptance, placement or sales. Do not assume a feed from one destination can be reused unchanged elsewhere.
Next, trace one record from the stock and price source to the product page, cart and receiving report. Check the exact variant and timestamp, then correct the underlying mismatch rather than only the exported file.
