Product detail page (PDP)

A product detail page, or PDP, describes one product and gives the buyer the information and controls needed to choose the correct item. It connects specifications, available options, price and purchase conditions with the action of adding that item to the cart.

Explain exactly what the customer will receive

A product page answers “Is this the right item, and what will I receive?” A collection helps compare several items. The PDP should resolve the choice rather than merely repeat a promotional description. Important details include what is included, which option is selected and where the buyer can confirm delivery and returns.

Illustrative lamp page: the title identifies a desk lamp, the specification states its height, the option selector chooses the finish, and the contents list says the bulb is included. The photograph shows styling props, so the page makes clear that the desk and plant do not ship. The cart confirms the selected finish. This separates the product’s actual contents from what appears in the scene.

Connect specifications options delivery and returns

More copy or more structured data does not compensate for inaccurate stock, ambiguous photographs or a broken selection control. Details must reflect the actual item and region. A fictional specimen cannot establish that a real product meets a safety, compatibility or delivery claim.

Next, ask someone to identify exactly what ships, choose an available option and confirm it in the cart. Record each question the page cannot answer and assign the relevant product-information owner.
