Buyer guide

Write product copy that helps customers compare

Product copy should help a customer compare fit, materials and use before adding to cart. Replace vague praise with verified attributes and explain which practical decision each attribute supports. A useful sentence can rule the product out for someone as clearly as it recommends it.

Replace vague claims with supported product facts

Replace vague praise with material, dimensions and use restrictions that a shopper can verify. The storage-box example distinguishes exterior footprint from usable interior space and limits use to the supported setting. Each revision needs an approved fact source before it becomes a statement about a real product.

Worked example — illustrative data.

Before After Required source
A beautiful premium box Birch plywood box; external size 30 × 20 × 15 cm Approved material and dimension record
Fits everything Internal width 27 cm; check your item before ordering Measured usable interior
Perfect for any room Intended for dry indoor storage Manufacturer use limitation

List the questions a shopper must answer: will it fit, what is it made from, what comes in the box and where can it be used? Write the answers beside their supporting record. Distinguish internal and external dimensions so a buyer does not mistake the product’s footprint for usable capacity. Use an image or diagram for orientation when dimensions alone leave room for error. Keep decorative language only after the factual choice is clear.

Conflicting supplier measurements need confirmation

A supplier may provide two inconsistent measurements. Do not average them or choose whichever sounds better. Confirm the intended measurement method and hold the unsupported claim until the product owner resolves it.

Publish the revised specimen only after its factual cells are verified. Cut unsupported durability, sustainability and suitability claims even if they make the description sound more persuasive.
