Connect SaaS marketing pages to documentation

Link SaaS marketing pages to documentation at the point where the buyer shifts from evaluating fit to checking implementation. The destination should answer the exact setup question and have a clear owner. A generic documentation homepage can leave a technical buyer to repeat the search.

Link the marketing promise directly to the documentation that answers its implementation question. Map prerequisites, permission behavior, export limits and API setup to a specific destination and owner. Review meaning as well as link status so a live page does not silently become an outdated answer to the buyer’s task.

Worked example — illustrative data.

Marketing statement Documentation destination needed Owner/check
Connect the CRM Exact connector prerequisites and field map Integration owner; version and permissions
Use approval roles Role/permission configuration Product owner; current behavior
Export request history Supported export format and limits Data owner; actual feature
Call the API Authentication and relevant endpoint Developer documentation owner; current version

Audit the claims on each marketing page and ask which ones raise a likely implementation question. Link the specific documentation page using an anchor that names the task. Record a joint owner for changes that affect both pages, such as a renamed field or retired endpoint. Check that gated content and account requirements are clear before the click. Keep screenshots and examples aligned with the documented product version.

For the CRM statement, open the documentation as the intended buyer and confirm the connector, current version, supported plan and permissions it describes. Check whether the destination requires an existing account before the buyer can evaluate fit. Put a material limitation beside the marketing claim, then provide the deeper setup link for the person who will implement it.

A documentation link can remain technically live while its feature has moved or changed. Include semantic review in the update task; an HTTP success response alone cannot confirm that the answer still matches the marketing claim.

Accept the handoff when the buyer can reach the promised implementation detail and both page owners know when to update it. Mark unsupported claims for correction instead of adding a vague help link.
