Follow a test request to its receiving team
Follow the intended contact action to its receiver and record timestamped evidence for both steps. Distinguish an email draft opening from a sent form and from confirmed inbox delivery. Keep the test log’s acknowledgement field unresolved until the authorized receiver actually verifies the synthetic request rather than inferring receipt from the page.
Worked example — illustrative data.
| Action | Expected evidence | Receipt field |
|---|---|---|
| Open email action | Correct recipient and draft fields | Device/time; no sending implied |
| Submit supported form | Receiver stores one test request | Request ID and timestamp |
| Invalid field | Useful error; no false success | Screen and retained-input record |
| Delivery check | Authorized owner confirms receipt | Acknowledgement/time |
| Failure case | Supported alternative is visible | Recovery result |
Agree the test scope with the contact owner and use synthetic content that clearly identifies itself as QA. Record browser, device, action, local time zone and intended receiver. For an email-draft action, check the prepared draft without claiming inbox delivery. For a form, follow its test ID through the receiver and agreed acknowledgement. Check mobile layout and keyboard recovery so the customer can complete the same task after an error.
Reconcile a retry before asking the buyer to submit again
If the browser times out after a test submission, look for its test reference in the receiving system before retrying. Record whether the first attempt was stored, whether a notification was sent and which team owns it. A supported recovery message should explain the uncertainty without confirming either success or failure prematurely. Check that a repeated click does not create an unexplained second enquiry.
A success screen can conceal downstream delivery failure
A success message can appear even when downstream delivery fails. The page and receiver evidence must agree; do not close the issue from the browser screenshot alone.
Mark the interface check and delivery check separately. Accept an end-to-end path only after the authorized receiver confirms the test, and avoid promising response times unsupported by the business record.
Is an email notification enough to verify the form?
Check the agreed receiving record and the responsible team’s acknowledgement, as well as any notification. An email can arrive without the required routing context, and a stored record can exist even if its notification fails.
